Music in the Gardens Tour
Our annual Music in the Garden Tour takes place annually in May and presents a selection of five of the area's finest gardens, music by five exciting and diverse ensembles, as well as light refreshments and wine.
With something for every sense this annual Memorial Day weekend event has become a tradition for garden and music lovers alike. The Garden Tour also provides an ideal opportunity to show visitors the Santa Cruz area, while enjoying a leisurely afternoon of music, company, and food in the outdoors.
Proceeds from the Music in the Gardens Tour ticket sales benefit the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival, a non-profit arts organization. Information on garden locations and driving directions are provided to ticket holders.
Past Garden Tours
History of the Garden Tour:
The directors of the SCBF Board recognized that they could enhance the programming and growth of the festival if they devised a successful fundraising event. So, in 1999, Music in the Gardens was born. The concept proved very successful, judging by both the attendance and the comments we received following the initial event.
What distinguishes our tour from most others is that, being a musical enterprise, we added a music group in each garden and then, for good measure,
we provided food from our local delis and specialty shops elegantly presented by our volunteers and board members. Experience was a winner.
Funds raised as a result of the Music in the Gardens have continued to benefit the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival's ongoing concert series.
By purchasing a ticket today, you are helping the festival raise the funds that we need to strengthen our programming and broaden our support. Our Music in the Gardens fundraiser allows Santa Cruz audiences to enjoy a diverse set of musical groups that might not ordinarily be a part of the festival series.

"We've gone on many garden tours on both sides of 'The Hill' and we've seen nothing as breathtaking as Garden 4. To see a garden that's been nurtured for almost 100 years is like stepping into another world. The many niches (there must have been about 20) each with a few comfortable unpretentious chairs clearly show an environment made for living and loving and caring. The 'water features' created from the natural springs added a peaceful counterpoint to the exciting music there; first you want to dance, then you want to sit down and relax by the water. And the food was so good I had to repent for a week! We sure hope it will be included next year."
